Communities

Communities are spaces where developers can share knowledge, ask questions, and connect around common interests. Create public or private communities to build your developer network.

Browsing Communities

  1. Click "Communities" in the navigation menu
  2. Browse featured and popular communities
  3. Use the search bar to find specific communities
  4. Filter by tags or categories

Joining a Community

  1. Find a community you're interested in
  2. Click on the community to view its details
  3. Click "Join Community"
  4. For private communities, you may need to request access

Creating a Community

  1. Click "+ Create Community" (green button)
  2. Fill in the community details:
    • Name: Choose a clear, descriptive name
    • Description: Explain the purpose and focus of the community
    • Visibility: Choose public (anyone can join) or private (invite only)
    • Tags: Add relevant tags for discoverability
  3. Click "Create Community"

Community Features

Posts

  • Create posts with Markdown support
  • Share code snippets, tutorials, questions, or announcements
  • Include images, links, and formatted text
  • Tag your posts for better organization

Comments

  • Engage with posts through nested comments
  • Reply to specific comments to create threads
  • Use Markdown in comments for formatting
  • Share code snippets in comments

Moderation

  • Community creators are automatically admins
  • Assign moderators to help manage the community
  • Moderate posts and comments
  • Remove inappropriate content

Creating Posts

  1. Navigate to your community
  2. Click "+ New Post" or "Create Post"
  3. Enter a title for your post
  4. Write your content using Markdown
  5. Add tags to categorize your post
  6. Click "Publish" to share with the community

Markdown Support

Posts and comments support Markdown formatting:

  • Bold and italic text
  • Code blocks with syntax highlighting
  • Lists (ordered and unordered)
  • Links and images
  • Headers and formatting

Community Roles

  • Admin: Full control over the community (creator)
  • Moderator: Can moderate posts and comments (assigned by admin)
  • Member: Can create posts and comment

Managing Your Communities

  • View communities you've created in "My Communities"
  • Edit community settings and description
  • Manage members and moderators
  • View community analytics and activity

Leaving a Community

  1. Go to the community page
  2. Click "Leave Community"
  3. Confirm that you want to leave
